There's a specific loneliness in learning AI today. Not the loneliness of being alone — but of being permanently behind what exists.
The paradox
There have never been so many resources. Papers, courses, repos, threads. And yet every week something new redefines what "basic" means. RAG was advanced; now it's a starting point. Agents were the future; now they're commodity.
What helped me
Small, concrete projects. Not "I'll learn LangChain." Yes: "I'll build a bot that answers questions about my PDFs." Small scope, fast feedback, real learning.
Community > content. Three conversations with people building similar things are worth more than 20 hours of YouTube.
Writing to clarify. This reflections blog was born from that. When your head is full of loose concepts, writing is the act of organizing.
For those starting now
You don't need to know everything. You need to know how to build one small thing to completion. The rest comes from iterating.
Loneliness fades when you share the path — not the destination.
